Hope Mission & Ark n Mark Trust Botswana 2011-12
In September 2011 my work took me to Botswana. There, I worked on several projects. The first was with Hope Mission. This is a residential centre and school for nineteen orphaned and vulnerable boys.
I taught the boys on the theme of the ‘planets and the solar system’ and introduced art into the curriculum. The project culminated in the first ever art exhibition at the Centre. I also worked directly with the management at the Centre to help them develop their future vision and strategy.
The second project i worked on was with the Ark n Mark Trust. The Trust provides wilderness therapy for children and young people orphaned due to the death of parents from HIV / AIDS. I supported the organisation through staff training, revising treatment plans. I also devised an adaptation of the eco-story of The Lorax, which young people performed nationally.
